Frequently Asked Questions
| Why is the HURD FEEDER made of galvanized
metal? |
| - Galvanized metal stands up to most weather
conditions and will provide years of service |
| |
| Will the shiny galvanized metal keep the
deer from feeding. |
| - Check our slide show. The simple answer is NO |
| |
| Can I paint the HURD FEEDER? |
| - Although it is not necessary, you can use a
primer and paint the feeder with any quality coating. |
| |
| What keeps the food port plugging to a
minimum? |
| - The patented design is effective to keep the
feed ports full while keeping moisture out and feed dry
which minimizes any plugging. |
| |
| What happens if a port does plug? |
| - Should that happen you simply use your hand to
clear the port. The HURD FEEDER has 6 feed ports. In the
unlikely event of a plug there will always be open ports
to provide feed. |
| |
| Can the HURD FEEDER
stand up to the wind? |
| - The HURD FEEDER comes with 4 pins to use as
anchors in the leg base plates. When properly installed
the pins reduce chances of storm tip over. Keeping the
feeder at least 50% full also helps anchor the unit. In
our years of testing, we have never had a feeder blown
over. In service, they have withstood thunderstorm winds
of 70-80 mph. |
| |
| What feed works the best to supplement the
herd? |
| - The HURD FEEDER can dispense feed from corn
to a 3/8 cube. We like a 20% ΒΌ inch creep pellet. This
works well for us, and field-testing has confirmed the
results. You may feed any quality feed that will provide
the nutrients the herd needs. In some cases it may be to
your advantage to check with your local extension center
to see what is recommended in your area. |
